Lincoln Literacy’s 2026 Global Celebration Set for October 29
Lincoln Literacy invites the community to attend its 2026 Global Celebration on Thursday, October 29, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at The Lincoln Marriott Cornhusker Hotel (333 S 13th St). With 350 to 400 supporters expected, the evening honors adult learners, volunteer tutors, and the organization's record period of growth.
Lincoln Literacy served over 3,000 adult learners from more than 100 countries in 2025. As of July 2026, the nonprofit had already surpassed 2,000 learners—a milestone made possible by over 200 volunteer tutors, staff members, and generous community donors. Lincoln Literacy now offers more than 120 free classes six days a week across 11 partner businesses and various community sites, including local schools and churches.
The evening begins with social time at 5:30 p.m., followed by the main program from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Guests will enjoy a plated Thai-inspired dinner (seating 8 per table) and table service provided by the hotel, with a cash bar available. Attendees are asked to notify the team of any dietary requirements after purchasing tickets.
The event program features the return of the Kokyo Taiko Japanese drum group. Keynote speaker Thuzar Kyaw, a former student who is now a healthcare professional, will share her story alongside student Minh, who will perform a poetry reading. Event sponsors include Chris and Joe Stone, Nelnet, and Union Bank and Trust.
