Lunar Eclipse Star Party

.

Join us at Branched Oak Observatory Sunday night between 9 and Midnight to witness the umbra (darker shadow) of the Earth slowly take an increasingly large "bite" out of the Moon until nearly gone when it then re-illuminates as a deep reddish-orange color during totality. Since the intensity of the normally bright Full Moon will be diminished throughout the evening, we will have the opportunity to also view some beautiful deep-space objects like the Hercules Star Cluster, the Whirlpool Galaxy, the Ring Nebula, and many others. As with all General Public Events at BOO, there is no cost associated with the Total Lunar Eclipse Star Party, and you can come any time between 9 and Midnight.
