Kolterman Bio

Senator Mark Kolterman currently serves District #24, comprised of Seward, York, and Polk Counties. Elected in November of 2014, Kolterman took office in January of 2015.  He is a member of several committees, including Banking, Commerce and Insurance, Revenue, Retirement and the Executive Board of the Legislative Council. In January of 2016 he was elected chair of the Retirement Committee.

Senator Kolterman began working as an insurance professional in 1976. In 1980, he founded Kolterman Agency, Inc., a financial-services firm specializing in employee and executive benefits, estate planning, and investments. The Kolterman's sold their practice and retired in 2017.

A lifelong resident of Seward County, Mark has a long history of civic involvement, promoting his community through his involvement in Seward County Economic Development Board, Seward Area Development Corporation, the Seward Area Chamber of Commerce, St. John Lutheran Church, Concordia University, Memorial Health Care Systems, and other civic groups and activities.  At the state level Mark served on the Southeast Nebraska Development District Board as an At-Large member and was a diplomat through the Nebraska Department of Economic Development.
