Growing with Care: Child Care and Economic Opportunity in Lancaster County

Oct 21, 2026 | 8:00 AM - 9:30 AM
Join us for the release of a new community-wide report from First Five Nebraska examining the economic impact of inadequate access to child care in Lincoln/Lancaster County. First Five Nebraska is an initiative of Early Futures Partnership. A press conference will begin at 8 am, followed by a report presentation by Dr. Katie Bass, Director of Policy Research at Early Futures Partnership.

Child care is not a family issue alone—it is core economic infrastructure. With 75% of children under age six having every parent in the workforce, our local economy depends on families having access to high-quality child care they can find, afford, and trust.

Presenter:

Dr. Katie Bass
Director of Policy Research, Early Futures Partnership

Commissioned by the City of Lincoln, Lancaster County, Lincoln Chamber of Commerce and Lincoln Littles. The report provides a shared picture a shared picture of our child care system and the gaps that remain.
