Igniting Untapped Potential Panelists:

Dominique Kelley dedicated her career to leadership, mentorship, and youth empowerment. As a teacher and head girls' basketball coach at Lincoln High School, she guided the Links to the 2023 Class A state finals, where they finished second with an overall record of 88-33. Honored as the 2023 Ralph Beechner and Epic Coach of the Year honors and the 2021 Dr. Barbara Hibner Mentor of the Year award from Girls and Women in Sports and Fitness in Lincoln, Kelley takes great pride in the numerous student-athletes she guided to collegiate opportunities.
A two-time Nebraska graduate, Kelley helped lead the Husker women’s basketball team to a No. 3 national ranking, a No. 1 NCAA Tournament seed and the program’s first Sweet Sixteen appearance in 2010. She holds a bachelor's degree in broadcasting and a master's degree in education administration. In 2023, she took on the role of CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Lincoln/Lancaster County, where she continues her commitment to empowering youth in the Lincoln community and helping them realize their full potential.
Sue Vagts joined the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1999 after a career as a pricing and product development actuary specializing in life insurance, annuities, and disability income insurance. As a professor of practice, she quickly began advocating for students and enhancing their academic experience. Vagts became director of the Actuarial Science Program in 2014, shaping curriculum, mentoring students, and partnering with industry leaders on initiatives like the Ameritas Emerging Leaders Program.
Under her leadership, the program has maintained its designation as one of 22 Centers for Actuarial Excellence from the Society of Actuaries. She also helped Nebraska become one of the few universities offering the University-Earned Credit (UEC) designation, allowing UNL students to earn credit for select Society of Actuaries exams by meeting required course scores. UNL students either earn or are prepared to take five actuarial exams by graduation. A Nebraska graduate in mathematics with minors in actuarial science and business, Vagts continues to strengthen alumni and community engagement and increase support for students and faculty.
