Growing Young Professionals in Lincoln

.

(This article appeared in the October 2021 edition of Strictly Business Magazine)

One of the most important draws to Lincoln is how our young professionals can establish their careers and help shape Lincoln’s future. Each year, we celebrate and highlight how our young professionals make their mark on Lincoln and how they continue to shape our future for the better.

Recently, Lincoln was ranked as the best city in Nebraska and tied for the best in the country for young professionals by Insurify and has consistently been in the top 10 best in the country according to other publications.

Time and time again, we are reminded of why Lincoln continues to succeed—because of its people, especially its young people. Whether it is being ranked the happiest city in America according to Men’s Health Magazine, seventh-best city for remote workers according to Ownerly, or Storage Café’s 19th-best city for active lifestyles, these rankings reflect a common theme of a city that is attractive to a wide group of people, especially young professionals, that are looking for a place to call home for the long term.

Our YP Week kicked off on September 27 and concluded on October 1, showcasing popular events and topics that connect young professionals in our community. The series of curated speakers, discussion panels and networking opportunities highlights YP Week each year as we celebrate their contributions and talent.

In its second year, the Young Lincoln Leader Awards Gala recognized the outstanding efforts and contributions of individuals and organizations in Lincoln in seven different categories, including Young Professional of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Young Nonprofit Professional of the Year, Emerging Leader of the Year, Next Generation Workplace and Diversity and Inclusion Excellence. A full list of the winners can be found at lincolnypg.com/about-YLLA.

Lincoln Young Professionals Group remains one of the largest in the country, serving over 2,000 members. Through educational, leadership and networking opportunities, there are numerous ways to get involved in the community with fellow young professionals here in Lincoln.

Our vision for Lincoln is one which in our community remains a place where young professionals not only engage and take ownership in its future professionally, but also personally and philanthropically. Lincoln YPs are active when it comes to policymaking at the local, state and national levels. Economic opportunities for YPs, community growth, social inclusiveness and diversity and a balanced living environment are just a handful of public policy topics that Lincoln YPG is involved in.

With great pride, the future of Lincoln rests in the hands of our capable and engaged young professionals as they are poised to make Lincoln even stronger in the years to come. To join Lincoln YPG or for more details, contact Kayla Meyer via email at kaylameyer@lcoc.com or (402) 436-2369.
