Resolution Supporting Workplace Fairness and Equality

.

After the recent Supreme Court decision prohibiting employment discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, Senator Patty Pansing Brooks has introduced LR 466, which states the following:

The Nebraska Legislature affirms the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Bostock v. Clayton County, Georgia.

  • The Legislature is committed to the ongoing training, recruitment and retention of all skilled workers in Nebraska to meet the workforce development needs of employers.
  • The Legislature sends a strong message to current and prospective employers and workers that Nebraska is committed to being a welcoming and inclusive state for all, including LGBTQ+ families and individuals, and that Nebraska is open for business.
  • The Lincoln Chamber and Young Professionals Group are established leaders and champions on workplace equality and fairness and continue to view these values as imperative to our workforce development and the strengthening of our community. Above all, Lincoln is an inclusive and welcoming place that is reflected by these deeply held values of its business leaders.

The Lincoln Chamber of Commerce encourages our members to support our advocacy efforts by contacting senators and asking for a 'YES' vote on LR 466.
