Windstream Celebrates Small Business Saturday
Communications company encourages Lincoln to shop local Nov. 24

Last year, 108 million shoppers spent almost $13 billion on Small Business Saturday, according to the Small Business Administration. More than half of all sales in the U.S happen inside small businesses such as restaurants, boutiques, salons and shops.
That’s why Kinetic Business by Windstream is proud to support the most dynamic sector of the cities we live in, small businesses. For every $100 spent with an independent merchant, more than two-thirds — $68 — stays with the local economy, according to Civics Economics, compared to $43 at an out-of-state company and virtually nothing at a big online retailer.

The American Independent Business Alliance says the commercial impact of supporting small businesses is lasting and uplifting for a local economy. Dollars spent with local merchants go toward small business operations such as overhead, inventory, support services, municipal taxes and employee pay. Wages are spread around town to churches and charities, for sponsoring youth sports and community events, and at local business shopping malls or on “Main Street.” Such economic health attracts human capital, and productive people and families continue the cycle of local investments and growth.
Windstream supports businesses’ operational needs through its Kinetic Business products and services. By providing communications services to these businesses, Windstream grows local telecommunications infrastructure while increasing community jobs to give back to the growing economy.
But, if the economics isn’t festive enough, then do it for yourself. Local businesses provide a way to pamper yourself with a salon visit, a spa day, a cooking class or golf lesson, because while Black Friday and Cyber Monday are strictly productive — Small Business Saturday is fun with a purpose!

Windstream and our 250 employees in Nebraskans are committed to small businesses this Saturday, Nov. 24, and every other shopping day of the year. Support your entire local economy and spread the message to support a local small business near you!
