The Lincoln Chamber of Commerce held its 15th Annual Celebrate Business Awards Luncheon Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at the Cornhusker Marriott Hotel. The event was held to honor nine Lincoln businesses and individuals for their success and service to the community. Over 700 people attended the event which highlighted the accomplishments of the 2010 award winners.

2010 Special Olympics USA National Games held in Lincoln

The Special Olympics 2010 USA National Games was hosted in Lincoln July 18-23. Over 3,000 athletes will be competing in 13 sports during the week with 1,500 coaches and 15,000 specatators in attendace.

2nd Annual Southeast Nebraska Economic Development Summit to be Held June 16th

The Lincoln Area Development Partnership and the Lincoln Partnership for Economic Development in collaboration with the Southeast Nebraska Partners for Progress are pleased to be hosting the 2nd annual regional economic development forum to bring together civic leaders from a 12 county region in Southeast Nebraska. Recent findings of a Regional Innovation Grant (RIG) from the U.S. Department of labor and the city of Lincoln will be discussed on how we can collaboratively facilitate economic development, education, training and workforce development. The Lincoln Partnership for Economic Development will release their annual Business Conditions Report at this time as well.

Senator Greg Adams, Chairman of the Legislature’s Education Committee, was the featured speaker during April’s Public Policy Forum. The Senator from York, Nebraska took on a broad range of education topics, including the P-16 Initiative; recent changes to the Community Colleges Foundation and Equalization Aid Act; and looking ahead to budget challenges and potential changes in the state aid funding formula for K-12 schools.
